All Cooki shampoo and conditioner bars are palm oil free, plus also cruelty-free and vegan. None of our products are tested on animals. Please note that the only ingredient in our range which is not vegan is the Pearl Powder in our Hand & Body Soap, which is derived in a cruelty-free process from oysters - but oysters are not killed in the extraction process.
They shouldn't, providing you have selected a high quality shampoo bar that is well suited to your hair. If you often suffer with dry hair, be sure to use our argan oil shampoo and conditioner bar or our coconut oil shampoo and conditioner bar. In fact, most people find the opposite with our shampoo and conditioner bars, because we cut out the harsh ingredients, and use natural oils which help cleanse and nourish the hair. Many people find their hair feeling super soft even after their first wash!
Your hair should feel amazing after using our shampoo and conditioner bars. If it feels like it's greasy or oily, you haven't washed the product out properly. It's surprising how little you need, because they are concernatre. You can also check out this blog here about changing to shampoo bars.
All Cooki bars are gentle enough to be used on coloured hair and have not in our experience caused premature colour fading. For darker hair dyes or bright colours such as purple or blue, we recommend using our Rice Water Protein Shampoo Bar, which is actively colour-protective and designed to help defend against colour fading while gently cleansing the hair. We also have our best selling Purple Toning Shampoo Bar specifically for blonde and highlighted hair, which helps to neutralise brassy yellow tones.

Great question! Just like regular conditioner doesn't lather, our conditioner bars are not designed to foam. Instead, they are a solid block of oils which you use to 'paint' directly onto your hair. Check out this video for instructions on how to activate and get the most out your conditioner. You’ll feel the softness as it melts in - no bubbles needed!
The best part is, each conditioner bar lasts many months - they're incredibly economical. They're also very lightweight and won't weigh down your hair, so if you have fine or limp hair that tends to go flat with heavy creams, you'll absolutely love Cooki conditioner bars.
All our bars are proudly low tox and contain no parabens, phenoxyethanol, phthalates, silicones, PEGs or synthetic fragrance. If you’re playing it super safe and are also looking to avoid essential oils during pregnancy, we suggest you go for our Coconut Shampoo and Conditioner or our Argan Shampoo, which contain no essential oils.
